Even the smallest premature contact points in the μ range can cause functional disturbances in the patient (in most cases, pain discomfort - pain syndrome), and sometimes it can even cause difficulty in swallowing. Therefore, it is very important that the control materials accurately reproduce the occlusal contact points. In many cases, the occlusal contact points are small in diameter and are difficult to see especially on polished ceramic and metallic surfaces. The control material should be as thin as possible to keep the contours of the occlusal contact points sharp and accurate. With eccentric movements and control of the occlusal surface, the control material should have a very high breaking strength. Bausch articulation foils meet these requirements and are also characterized by excellent dye adhesion on surfaces that are difficult to control. The thin 6μ layer of dye consisting of wax and pigment additionally contains hydrophilic components to improve the adhesion of the dye also on moist occlusal surfaces.
Bausch articulation foils offered in several colors are especially useful when reproducing static and dynamic occlusion. In the first stage, red is used to control the centric contact points (static occlusion), in the second stage, black is used to control the eccentric contact points (dynamic occlusion). Of course, the order of the colors can be changed. More colors can also be used to accurately reproduce dynamic occlusion. Arti-Fol® is offered in 5 colors.
